Southeast Portal for Electric Transportation Opportunities

This portal serves as a central hub that aggregates and enhances the visibility of active funding sources, comment solicitations, research opportunities, events, and other participatory initiatives geared towards advancing transportation electrification – primarily across Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.

This list is managed by Duke University’s Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability as part of the Southeast Electric Transportation Regional Initiative (SETRI).

At this Arkansas Advanced Energy Industry and Career Event, professionals, job seekers, and students will experience interactive industry booths, career and educational presentations, and live career coaching and job interviews. The event is being produced by the Arkansas Advanced Energy Foundation in partnership with the Arkansas Apprenticeship Alliance, Arkansas Office of Skills Development, and Greentech Renewables. The emerging advanced energy industry includes technology and economic activity around energy efficiency, demand response, solar, wind, hydro, nuclear, electric vehicles, alternative fuels, and smart grid. The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation (Joint Office) will host a webinar introducing the latest resources available to help transit agencies and school bus fleets transition to zero-emission buses. Presenters from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) will demonstrate how to use the new Route Planning Tool, which assists school bus fleets in determining the bus power usage and charger power needs for their unique bus routes. NREL will also present on how school and transit bus fleets can apply for the Clean Bus Planning Awards.

From 2:45 to 4:00 p.m., (KYTC) will facilitate a networking event for potential developers, site hosts, contractors, electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) suppliers, and other interested parties. The Department of Energy (DOE or the Department)'s Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains is issuing this request for information (RFI) to notify parties of its potential interest in initiating a Manufacturing Capital Connector (MCC) to support applicants seeking clean energy manufacturing funding opportunities and/or tax credits. The Department also seeks input from all stakeholders through this RFI to help gauge the interest in and to inform the overall design of the MCC. Electric or fuel cell vehicles and associated recharging/refueling infrastructure are among the multiple topic areas.

This working group convenes local governments, nonprofits, local power companies, and industry partners on a quarterly basis to share information on available and upcoming funding opportunities and initiatives to support electric vehicle deployment and charging infrastructure development throughout Tennessee. The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation will host a webinar on best practices, challenges, and strategies for effectively planning, deploying, and operating electric vehicle (EV) curbside charging projects. Researchers from the Department of Transportation (DOT) Volpe National Transportation Systems Center will present findings from a recent whitepaper on curbside charging, and municipalities will share their experiences with installing and operating curbside charging in local communities.

Fusen, in collaboration with Georgia Tech’s Strategic Energy Institute, is organizing the first-ever CleanTech Startup Challenge. This challenge is designed for budding entrepreneurs from metro-Atlanta universities who are eager to establish a business in the clean technology sector. During the challenge, teams will engage in weekly workshops to refine their business concepts and gain invaluable guidance from industry experts. The highlight of the challenge is the live demo day on Thursday, April 11th, where winning teams will be awarded funding for their startup valuing their company at $1,000,000. Mobility & clean fuels is among the numerous topical areas.
